TSA Programs and Services for Travelers with Disabilities


With spring breaks and summer vacations quickly approaching, this important information about TSA programs and services may be beneficial to travelers with disabilities and medical conditions.  

TSA Cares and the Passenger Support Specialist Program

TSA Cares is a helpline for travelers with disabilities or medical conditions who want to prepare for the screening process prior to flying.  Travelers or their companions may call TSA Cares toll free at 1-855-787-2227 (Federal Relay 711) or e-mail The hours of operation for the TSA Cares helpline are 8 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET from Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET on weekends and holidays. We strongly recommend travelers call TSA Cares 72 hours before travel. 

TSA Pre?® 

TSA Pre?® is a screening program that enhances security by enabling TSA to focus on passengers the agency knows less about and those who are considered high-risk, while providing expedited screening for travelers who volunteer information about themselves prior to flying. Travelers with disabilities and medical conditions who are interested in TSA Pre?® may visit and apply at an enrollment center to provide biographic information that includes name, date of birth and address.
