TravelMate and EmployMate (The Arc of NoVA)

Description:

All disability service providers are short on time and funds.  Individuals with disabilities and their families are longing to be more independent, but are fearful of the unknown.  With the TravelMate and EmployMate lessons, and activities on the ONEder platform, the Arc of NoVA has found a solution to complement the current service provision model, making it much more effective as well.  Their transition suite of apps can be considered virtual supports, such as travel trainer or job coach, that can be customized to each individual’s functional needs.  TravelMate and EmployMate each come with templates that are easily personalized to an individual’s functional needs using images, videos, and sounds from the person’s surroundings.  There’s no need to learn symbols to represent real life objects because you can take a picture of exactly what you need.

There are different options for obtaining their independent living apps - depending on whether you represent a service-delivery agency or organization; or if you are an individual with a disability, family member, or care-giver.  The easiest way to obtain more information, ask questions you may have, or learn how to get started is to contact the Arc of NoVA team by phone at (703) 208-1119 or by email, employmate@thearcofnova.org
