Early Childhood Website (VCU-ACE)
Description:
VCU-ACE has resources for families about raising and supporting young children with ASD. They also have resources for educators and providers as they learn more about ASD and how to use evidence-based practices.
For Parents:
Raising a child diagnosed with ASD can be confusing and overwhelming. Many times, parents and family members struggle to understand the diagnosis, how to support their child's success, and how to problem-solve through challenges. Information from our seminars, webcasts, and online courses can help families and caregivers understand more about appropriate interventions and strategies to help their child.
For Educators:
Special education teachers, related services personnel, general education teachers, and other educators are very important in supporting students with ASD to be successful! VCU-ACE has created many resources, tools, and training opportunities with you in mind.

Explain It! videos are designed to help explain a wide variety of topics. Some of these topics are about helping families understand their child's abilities and strengths. Other topics are about explaining different aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder. There are also videos that explain why different tools and supports work best for children with ASD.
There are two video series that help parents understand how to use evidence-based practices:
Autism Parenting 101 & Use What Works.
These videos are designed to support families through difficult times, including COVID-19. These 10-15 minute videos cover topics that are critical to a child’s development including providing a sense of safety and security, supporting resilience, and supporting emotional regulation.
